These topics cover the specific objectives upon completion of the course as follows:
the participants should: (1) Understand the role of nutrition in food industry and the role of
food industry in improving the nutritional status of the people in the region; (2) Be familiar with
potential dietary supplement and functional food;(3) Be familiar with food and nutrition for
specific dietary and medical purposes; (4) Be familiar with implementation of the results of
nutrition research in food industry; (5) Understand food regulation especially on functional
food, dietary supplement, and food fortification; (6) Understand the role of food industry in
nutrition promotion and marketing in enhancing healthy lifestyle; (7) Understand nutr ition and
health claims in Asia regions; (8) Understand food labeling and how to design a food label
based on food laws and regulation in the country.
